Phillip Lee Leffert, 49-years old, was killed in an Orange County car accident on Thursday night.
The OC Register reported that the car accident took place on September 3, west of Imperial Highway. It seems that Leffert was on the eastbound 91 freeway when he suddenly lost control of his 1999 Ford Explorer. From the No. 2 lane, his SUV veered across all lanes before crashing into a cluster of trees a little after 8 p.m.
Anaheim officials who responded to the scene pronounced Leffert dead on the scene and the cause of the car accident is currently being investigated. Two tow truck workers had to remove the wreckage from the site.
Firstly, I would like to send my condolences to the friends and family of Mr. Leffert. My heart goes out to them in their time of loss. I'm thankful though that no other people were injured in the car accident. It's quite a miracle, considering that Mr. Leffert's vehicle travelled across the freeway.
According to the California Highway Patrol Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), 15 people were killed and 1,949 others injured in Anaheim car accidents in 2007. In all of Orange County, 97 people were killed and 12,909 were injured in car accidents during the same period.
The details of Mr. Leffert’s car accident are still unclear and there are many questions that need to be answered. First of all, what caused his Ford SUV to suddenly veer across the lanes? Were there auto defects that made Mr. Leffert lose control of the car? Or were there other factors that contributed to the tragic car accident?
